OVERVIEW

The patented Barracuda™ HEX-Hanger™ is a high-expansion technology designed to anchor downhole equipment such as acoustic telemetry gauges, memory gauges, and fluid samplers. The Barracuda was developed to provide a retrofit deployment option for the SonicGauge™ Wireless Monitoring System without being constrained to nipple profiles, which are no longer required.

With a 1.3” OD, the HEX-Hanger™ is the industry’s most flow-efficient anchoring device, compatible with tubing and casing sizes from 2-3/8” to 13-3/8”. The tool is installed using the Barracuda™ Electro-SET™, a rechargeable battery-powered electro-mechanical setting tool, via slickline or wireline.

Its setting mechanism uses slips that securely engage the tubing wall even in scale build-up environments. A force retention system maintains grip integrity under changing well conditions. The gripper design supports loads from 2,000kg (4,400lbs) to 4,000kg (8,800lbs) in both directions.

INSTALLATION

• The Electro-SET-HEX-Hanger toolstring is run-in-hole via slickline or wireline to the selected depth
• An onboard timer activates the Electro-SET, expanding the HEX-Hanger grippers against the tubing/casing wall via a soft-set pre-compression mechanism, which provides high force distribution and engagement
• The Electro-SET is disengaged from the installed HEX-Hanger via a shear-pin mechanism
• The Electro-SET is then pulled-out-of-hole and the onboard setting log is downloaded to confirm successful installation
