AD250 Wireless Downhole Gauge System
Pro-Test Pty Ltd is the premier onshore Drill Stem Testing firm in Australia and has performed 1,600 DSTs since commencing operations in 2009. In response to Australian operators requests for real time DST data, and the inability of EM telemetry to provide this reliably in the Cooper Basin, Pro-Test and Acoustic Data agreed to perform trials with the AD250 Wireless Downhole Gauge mounted inside the Pro-Test drill string. In order to establish viability of the AD250 Wireless Downhole Gauge System for DST real time telemetry, initial trials were conducted in tandem with memory gauges in the Surat Basin. A direct comparison of data quality was achieved.
The tables below present the trial results with a single AD250 Wireless PDHG without repeater, transmitting data to surface at 1-minute intervals.
DST trials 1-7 demonstrated that a single AD250 Wireless Downhole Gauge can produce useful real time data to 1900m in the Cooper – Eromanga Basin. Reliability of consistent data is influenced by rig noise and attenuation through the drill string and surface clamp.
CASE STUDY UPDATE: Pro-Test successfully utilised the AD250 Wireless Gauge & Repeater Technology throughout their Air Assisted Flow Test campaign in the Surat Basin as a method for real-time downhole pressure and temperature monitoring without a depth limitation.
